Yes, clean agents are safe for people. When a new clean agent is in development for fire protection systems the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, performs tests on the chemical. The clean agent is reviewed on the basis of ozone depletion potential, global warming potential, toxicity, flammability, and human exposure potential. The results are published in the SNAP list, according to the SNAP Protocol - Significant New Alternatives Policy. The list is updated several times a year and can be accessed on the EPA's website at http://www.epa.gov/ozone/snap/fire/index.html.
